National Homicide Service

Brief description of services: The Ministry of Justice funds Victim Support to deliver a national Homicide Service, which provides emotional, practical, specialist and peer support to families bereaved by murder or manslaughter, including where this has occurred as an act of terrorism. Families are entitled to the support of this service when resident in England and Wales. Where the homicide has occurred abroad, the service is also funded by the Foreign Office (FCO) to commission support for families on a range of matters such as liaison with foreign authorities and travel arrangements. In these cases, families can either be referred to the Homicide Service by British consulates, or by police Family Liaison Officers.
