This website has been created to explain how victims and witnesses should be treated during their journey through the Criminal Justice System. From reporting a crime through to an offender being dealt with for the crime it is important that the victim and witness entitlements are appropriately provided for. The most recent Victims' Code which was published in November 2015 and the Witness Charter is broken down into questions and understandable answers accessible through browsing the topics or entering a search term in the field above.
Also provided within this site, are the pages of a locally compiled directory of supporting organisations, which are able to offer the help and advice you require. You are able to refer yourself to some of these service providers with the details they have provided, but you can also ask a question from the "can't find an answer" facility on the front page if you are not able to find what you need within the site.
The localised information can be found by ensuring you enter your postcode to the right side of the home page, which for West Yorkshire users has been contextually translated into the five most regularly spoken languages where English is not the first language.
Currently only West Yorkshire users will be able to self-refer to their local Victim Support offices for victim or witness services.
