What is the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority?

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) processes all applications made under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme. The Scheme is funded by the Government to compensate blameless victims of crime and intended to be one of last resort.

CICA expects you to try to claim compensation from the person, or persons, who caused your injury or loss. However, if you do not know who injured you, or your assailant does not have the means to pay you compensation, you can make a claim under the Scheme.
