What is a provider of probation services?

A Provider of Probation Services is an organisation which provides probation services on behalf of the Secretary of State for Justice. It is either the National Probation Service or a Community Rehabilitation Company. The services provided include:

  • rehabilitating offenders,
  • reducing their risk,
  • protecting the public,
  • punishing offenders, and
  • providing victim services.

Victim Liaison Officers work within probation.
